This post comes more from necessity than out of want. Its unfortunate but we see so many customers are being mistreated by their tradesmen, especially when getting their TV fitted. Most ignore the hurdles and generally go for the cheapest, unfortunately this is where the issues begin.
Most of the distress calls we receive are because a TV has fallen out, or is uneven or wrong location. Often we
see basic fitters using the cheapest of fixings and screws in order to put up 30kg of weight. No hole fixing is resolved with normal plugs and screws, and to be honest a good fitter should have at least 5-8 options on their persons. What happens in these failed events is the cheapest most at hand option is used and then coming days the TV begins to sad and ultimately move. For this reason you should always pick a company like ours to mount these heavy items properly. We use the best fixings and are very particular for your wall types, we ensure the holding pressure is in magnitudes of what’s needed and often it’ll take an adult’s weight.
When picking your handymen always make sure to do a basic Google search and see what their reviews are like. Red flags are more than 5% negative, all posted within a short time, all new within a few month and also if the business is missing a proper name and traceable history. We would always say when someone is handling something expensive of yours, always make sure the fitter is adequate to take this on, and especially relevant, fix it if it goes bad.
Supervision is always a good thing also, you can always count on the worst handymen to accidentally scratch a tv or drop it, and if the customer isn’t their, unfortunately it must have happened before. Same goes for making sure the larger TVs have multiple fitters to lift them up on the wall. A single man at best can lift a 65″ but we often see handymen out there trying to solo an 85″. This is asking for issues.
Always get a receipt of works so that any warranty can be held accountable, also helps with identifying the business.
In short, make sure to come to Dr Flatpack if you want a top job done by the best!
